I was at a loss when I realized I still had no idea what I wanted to write about for today (much less for the remaining 10 days after this), but then it came to me. What better than one of the most epic series I’ve watched in the past year.
Yep, it’s Saki.
After looking through Fuyu’s SC archives, I was unsure whether I even wanted to make a post about Shugo Chara, mostly because of how many crazy comments she got, but I think I need to get it out of my system. So here goes. Holy crap, I guess I should’ve gone through my screencaps before starting this post, that took a while. Warning, this post contains tons of shoujo sparkles known to cause blindness. Also, shipping overload, fangirlboying, and way too many screencaps.
If you manage to make it through this entire post (lol, good luck), I don’t think it’ll be much of a secret that I’m an Amuto fan.
In order to avoid confusing the hell out of myself by counting down from 12, I’m just going to take the easy way out. This is day 1, day 12 will be the last (Christmas). Oh and these are mostly going to end up in random order, not in order of what impressed upon me the most. At least, I won’t have time to organize them like that until after my finals are over.
But that’s enough of that, let’s get on with the show!
Wow, I’m really hitting the jackpot here. First Nyan Koi, then Needless, now Sasameki Koto. Granted, I did pick up Nyan Koi right away, so it was more of a lucky find at the start of the Fall season, but still something I wasn’t expecting to be any good at all. Anyway, initially I wrote Sasameki Koto off as being boring as shit yuri melodrama. Sorry Zyl (and many others who like the genre), but for as awesome as it sounds, yuri stories seem exceedingly boring to me or are filled with completely over the top melodrama. Or both, and then some.
I know, Sumika! But out of boredom, I decided to randomly check out Divine’s post on Sasameko Koto and found myself laughing at some of the hilarious expressions and such. In the first line of his post, he even said:
It’s a shame more people don’t check out other genres of anime and see what they have to offer as this episode of Sasameki Koto was absolute gold.
So, I figured… what the hell? I may as well try it out. I’d already read Day’s post about it, and had heard spoilers here and there (as in, I knew that Akemiya was a trap), so I was prepared for what was in store. Whether that was good or bad, I’m not sure, but after watching it I certainly see where Day was coming from, Ushio really is the worst kind of person in romance. But then I came to a realization, Ushio is to this story what most useless male harem leads are in any given random harem anime. Completely oblivious to any and all advances, instead going after a random ‘love at first sight’ fling, or even not having any explicit love interest at all.
Well, if you’ve been following my twitter, you might have realized I just burned through episodes 2-19 of Needless in the past.. 7 or so hours. When I watched the first episode back in, what was it, Summer? I was left feeling like it could be something, but felt like it lacked any real direction. Boy was I wrong as hell. I had seen a few posts here and there by C.I, but I was never motivated enough to give it another shot. But I’ve found myself with really absolutely nothing to do until at least Thursday as far as Fall anime goes. Almost all my shows are concentrated between Thursday and Sunday, leaving me with nothing really new to watch in the beginning of the week. So, instead of picking up new shows I probably wouldn’t care for anyway, I decided to go through my backlog of stuff and see what I wanted to watch. It just so happened that a friend of mine also suggested trying out Needless again and linked me to a rather hilarious clip of the fight with Uten where Eve gets covered in that Dero Doro juice.
And caught up I did! I dunno if it’s just that the novelty is wearing off or if I just prefer anime in smaller doses now that it’s all around me, but it’s been a while since I’ve actually been able to run a really long anime marathon. I think the most recent one was episodes 15-26 of Darker Than Black, which I did in about a day a few months ago, but that doesn’t even come close to comparing with my 2-19 marathon of Needless today.
It seems I caught up to White Album with impeccable timing. All the drama is finally coming to a head with this episode.
No, and I wish I didn’t know. WHY RINA-SAMA, WHY?!
Once again, not really weekly at all.
