Chaos;Head seems to be one of the first ‘horror’ shows I can’t help but keep watching. Or I guess I could call it a trainwreck, which was a good bandwagon title for Geass. It’s a similar reaction that I’m having to Chaos;Head. Although, I did really like Geass, even with all the issues it had from a critical point of view. Anyway, when I first went through a list of the Anime coming out in Fall, I immediately dismissed Chaos;Head from the moment I saw that it was supposed to be a bloody, gore filled, horror anime. Blood and gore just really isn’t my thing. I haven’t seen a scary/horror/thriller movie since Jurassic Park, which pretty much scarred me for life. No joke, I couldn’t sleep at all that night, I kept having nightmares that velociraptors were running down the hall outside my door and were going to burst in any moment.
Granted, that was like ten years ago, but I still can’t watch horror movies. And I also have a really weak stomach for blood and gore, thank christ for my friend in Biology, he loved disecting shit, so I just told him what to do and looked away. To give a more recent example, I had a hard time sitting through the Dark Knight. Yeah, the Dark Knight. With all the build up the Joker did during those scenes where he was explaining cutting people up.. yeah, let’s not walk back down that line of thought again, suffice it to say I left the theatre in a cold sweat. I guess it also (doesn’t) help that I have a very vivid imagination, and so it’s not very hard for me to imagine what people are saying.
So anyway, why did I watch Chaos;Head then? Well, everyone and their freaking mother seems to be blogging it, and the pictures I’ve seen so far have drawn me to it like a moth to the flame.
