Weekend Recap – 10/23 – 10/26

Let’s do it again! But this time with subtitles!

Gundam 00 S2 – 04

Alright, so, I missed the intro when I was watching the live stream, apparently. It was taking forever to load when I was trying to watch, I didn’t realize I missed such a key event D: So it turns out Marie gave Allelujah his name, and was pretty much the first human contact he had, that he can remember. Now I really hope he can rescue her. Unfortunately, it seems like with Hallelujah gone, he’s pretty terribad as a pilot. Soma was totally outmanuevering him, and might’ve taken him down if the Kataron hadn’t shown up. I hope Hallelujah makes a comeback somehow, I’d hate to think that Allelujah is useless now :<

Ok, so, it looks like Lyle did that on purpose, to make her realize that Neil is dead and that Lyle != Neil. Not sure I entirely agree with his way of doing it, but hey, it’ll sure make Feldt realize that he’s a different person, and I’m pretty sure he stole away her first kiss, so I’m pretty sure she’s gonna hate him now. Which is probably a good thing.

Well look at that, that’s pretty much the same philosophy behind what Lelouch was doing. I figured that’s basically what he was talking about, but I just wanted to point out the parallel. It also kinda foreshadows that at least Ian will die, if not all of Celestial Being. I’m just curious how it’s going to all happen.

And now some action shots, since I totally missed them during the live stream.

So, it turns out that while Gundam 00 can cut through pretty much anything, it doesn’t seem a whole helluva lot more powerful than a normal fake GN Drive powered machine. I dunno if that was “Mister Bushido” (lol) being an actually decent pilot, or if Gundam 00 really isn’t as powerful as it was made out to be in the first place.

Hohohohoho, pissT Billy is even more of a pissT kid than I thought. I can’t really blame him, but damn, watch out, this kid is pissT.

Kannagi – 04

So, I knew Zange was being devious, it was obvious from the way she was being a bitch to Kannagi and being manipulative of Jin, but damn, now I know why Hinano was about ready to strangle her :p

Anyway, now for some missed shots:

GROCERY BAG ATTACK!!!! This was just too funny. I thought I heard him scream something that ended in atakku, but I wasn’t sure, and I didn’t get a picture, so I didn’t mention it, but this was just too freaking funny. I’m surprised Jin is that dextrous to dodge the punch and then smash the guy in the face with the bag. Way to go Jin!

Hahaha, I was as shocked as Jin when this happened, and totally missed getting a screencap of it when it happened. Better late than never though! But man, this Hakua chick really wants in Jin’s pants I guess. God knows why.. but, I guess she wants him bad enough to give her body to a goddess like Zange in order to get him. Man, and I thought I was desperate.

This was just another LOL moment that I failed to capture at first because I was too busy laughing my ass off. I just love how he stands there for like five seconds in shock, and then just slams the door shut again and just kinda lays there. But man, what a freaking bitch Zange is. And now she’s moving in with Jin and offering to make him food? Poor Jin is done for, he’s already lusting over her as it is, now she’s gonna be living under the same roof as him? I really hope Nagi kicks her sorry ass~

To Aru Majutsu no Index – 04

So, it turns out that since Index has all those useless books committed to memory, it takes up a ton of her brain memory space. Or whatever. And she has to have her memory wiped every year, exactly on the year, or else her brain will overload and she’ll die. Why they don’t just erase the damn books from her memory is beyond me, but whatever.

Anyway, all the bitching back and forth in the fight between Kaori and Touma kinda killed the fight for me the first time around, but at least I got to hear what they were bickering about. Really it didn’t make much of an impact actually knowing what was going on, other than the bit about Index’s memories.

I’m not really sure what to think of this series anymore. I like it, but it seems a bit inconsistent, and I still don’t really understand why Index has all those books confined to memory, or what it actually accomplishes other than not leaving much room for her to remember anything else. It feels like there’s some pieces missing, and I just hope we get some more information in the next few episodes or I’m going to end up getting bored of this. I’m not sure how many episodes it’s even supposed to be, but it seems like if they wipe Index’s memories here, there’s not much else to do. If they don’t wipe her memories, or Touma finds a way to get rid of all those damn books in her head, again, there’s not much else to do. So I guess what I’m saying is, it all hinges on what happens this next episode as to whether or not I feel like this series turns out decently.

Chaos;Head – 03

Ok, so, this is still confusing, even with subs. But that’s to be expected. Anyway, I stumbled across a post about Chaos;Head by nekodan which seemed like one of the better put together theories that I’ve seen presented so far. Basically, what he says is that when he was a kid, he thinks that because he was mad that he couldn’t go on a field trip, he caused the accident. And he altered his memories to make him think he predicted it, or even ‘wished’ for it. Then, he feels like he’s being watched because he’s some extremely powerful being, and this leads to a huge delusion of grandeur. This is heightened by his self-seclusion and the fact that he keeps himself confined to playing video games where he can be a god of the game.

I have to say, this seems like the most well thought out theory, which pretty much covers all the bases, especially explaining how he ‘predicted’ that stuff would happen. He didn’t actually predict it, he just ‘forgets’ the memories of him altering photo timestamps and things he doesn’t want to remember, that would threaten his grand existence. This also explains how he claims he has giant holes in his memory, but doesn’t think he was sleeping, or sleepwalking.

The only thing is, this would mean that EVERYTHING is just his delusions. So really, while there really are crimes happening in the city he’s living in, they have absolutely nothing to do with him, in reality. So, it’s basically saying that the entire thing is a delusion and he’s not involved at all, which would kinda be anti-climactic. From what I’ve heard, people liked the game, and this kind of resolution would be on par with the Evangelion ending, which I doubt many people would enjoy. I don’t really care how it ends, I just enjoy the speculation, well, actually I hate it and love it at the same time, but I just want to figure it out, eventually. Even if I don’t figure it out by myself, it should still be enjoyable to watch. I never managed to figure out any of the things that would happen in Geass (I suck at predictions D:), but it was still enjoyable to watch. Ok, I lied, I knew what would happen in the final episode, but I’m pretty sure everyone saw that one coming. Although I did see a lot of people who were surprised by it, but whatever, I’m rambling.

Anyway, I also feel like the Nozomi corporation or whatever has more of a hand in this, and that’s where I think there’s a bit of a hole in the idea that everything is a delusion. It might just be that he makes up the whole Nozomi thing to make it look like there’s even a giant corporation keeping an eye on him, but it’s really hard to say. That’s really the problem with the whole story, it’s hard to trust anything you see, because you can’t tell whose perspective it’s from and if they’re reliable. I already don’t trust anything from Takumi’s perspective.

So yeah, about those frogs. Someone who has played the game said that the frogs play a certain role and to try to keep tabs on them. Nanami says that there’s a new frog out every Friday, which makes me wonder if the passage of time is somehow denoted by the appearance of the frogs. If I had more than Schneizel level effort, I’d go rewatch the first few episodes and try to match up the days, but I’m lazy right now, so perhaps I’ll do that tomorrow or Tuesday, since I have nothing new to watch on those days.

To conclude my thoughts on this mind warping show, I have no idea what the hell is going on, but nekodan’s theory seems like it’s the one with the least holes. In fact, the only problem with that ending is that it’d be too easy, and doesn’t seem like it’d conclude anything at all. Other than that, it pretty much covers almost all the bases. Whether or not it’s actually right, only someone who’s played the game can say. Speaking of that, if you’ve played the game and want to shoot that theory down so I can keep speculating, be my guest. Just don’t spoil too much. As frustrated as I am with how difficult this show is to piece together, I don’t want to just outright know the resolution :p

I was going to do a bit on Clannad After Story, but Eclipse’s subs aren’t ready yet, so maybe that will give me something to do at the beginning of the week to keep the blog lively. I’m realizing now that I’m really weekend heavy on the shows I watch. Monday and Tuesday are wide open, nothing new comes out, and then Wednesday is only Toradora. Thursday through Sunday are packed though. Oh well, what can ya do. Oh, but speaking of that, I’m probably not going to do anymore posts on Hakushaku to Yousei. After the third episode I kinda lost interest, as I spent more time groaning and /facepalming than enjoying the show, so rather than torture myself for a bit of Lydia, I’m going to pass on it for now.
