Twelve Moments in Anime – #11: Shakugan no Shana 08

Well, since it’s technically tomorrow on the east coast (where I live), I’m going to post this now before going to bed. For me, this episode was the high point of the entire Shakugan no Shana series. I’ll save the rage for some other time, because this is supposed to be a celebration of the good moments in anime. So, since no introduction is needed, I’ll cut straight to one of my personal favorite moments in anime.

Oh god, my fanboy senses were going wild during this episode.

Really, this episode had everything that would make a fanboy like me go crazy.

And actually, I think I’ve been dying to make a post just about this episode ever since watching the entire series. Probably because this was my favorite part of the series, but also because it ranks pretty high on my (imaginary) favorite episodes of any anime to watch list.

Shana with wings of fire? TAKE ME NOW SHANA, TAKE ME NOW! Really, this is pretty much the only reason I wanted to post about this episode, but I figured having lots of other shots of Shana looking kickass couldn’t hurt either.

t1110

So anyway, I think I had a train of thought in this post somewhere, but then I saw Shana looking badass with wings again and I totally lost it.

Oho, as if this episode wasn’t good enough, they teased us with an almost pantsu shot. I usually don’t find blatant pantsu shots very interesting or appealing, so actually this tease of a pantsu shot was actually more interesting than the blatant pantsu shots they did later in the series.

Oh hey, I found my train of thought! So yeah, this episode really had it all. Shana acting badass, saying she can do anything with Yuji by her side (nanimo dekiru!), getting wings of fire, a little bit of fanservice, plus some cute tsun near the end of the fight as well. Ok, well, it was missing Shana blushing and eating melonpan, but it’d be really hard to fit that in as well somehow, unless it was at the very end. If only it had stayed this good throughout the rest of the series. Oh well, at least this episode was absolutely amazing. <3 Shana

Now, you might be wondering why, if it’s one of my favorites, I put it up so early. Well, I feel like I have a whole lot from a couple other series (Code Geass and Clannad), and I want to be able to mix it up a bit so I’m not posting stuff from the same series day after day. So I decided to go with Shana today. That and I think I’ve been wanting to put up a post just about this episode for a while, so it seemed like a good time to get it out of my system.

Well, that’s all for now. Hopefully lelangir feels like keeping tabs on everyone again so I don’t have to link to every single blog that’s participating. Although I’ll definitely be checking out quite a few of them myself, as I’m curious what many great moments of anime I’ve missed, being so far out of the anime loop. Hopefully it’ll lead to the discovery of new (well technically old) anime to enjoy.

EDIT: Yup, here’s the list for today’s moments.

That’s my favorite episode from SNS season #1. In season #2 it was the final battle between *** and *** becuase the music in the background was PERFECT like in Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha the final fight with “Take a Shot” playing in the background.

Those are awesome shots of Shana btw. She looks so fierce~

Yup, it’s my favorite from season 1 as well :> Which is kinda sad really, because it happened so early in the series. Usually my favorites come later in a series, but well, we all know what happens later in Shakugan no Shana >:|
