Another shounen moment for today’s pick, but this time from Claymore.

I admit, at first I wasn’t a very big Clare fan, and I was even reluctant to keep going with Claymore. Partly because it seemed very typical and even boring, and partly because bloody anime isn’t really my thing (this was one show I couldn’t sit down and marathon 26 episodes all at once). But eventually I got into it, and I really liked this episode in particular. Later on, you’ll see my favorite out of the series, but with such slim selection, I picked two out of Claymore.

I also really liked the music they used for this episode. Although in general, the music was pretty cool, and had a very old celtic feeling about it, which felt fitting due to the setting, but the music for this particular episode was really amazing.

I especially loved the music playing when Raki finds out Clare’s starting to awaken. I actually woke up the other morning with the song in my head, but I had no idea where it was from, so I went looking through my anime folders to see if I could figure out what it was before I lost the tune by hearing some other song. I surprised myself really, because I usually lose the tune before I can figure out what it was (which is really frustrating), but I actually figured it out this time.

Speaking of Raki though, god is he fucking annoying. I think Rigardo raging here is pretty much how I feel about Raki. I wish Clare had impaled him in the end.

And speaking of the end, I’m told the anime stops following the manga right around this time, around when Rigardo starts taking out captains. I’m not sure if he does take them out in the manga and then the bit with Priscilla is different or what, but I have such a hard time reading manga, so I only just got to the part where the three Awakened Beings attack Pieta.

Not surprisingly, I don’t really have a lot to say about this. It’s just another one of those moments that raises goosebumps at just the right times, just like my pick for #12 (Geass R2 06). I wasn’t really satisfied with the ending to this series, and I think I’d like to see a season 2, assuming they can get back on track with the manga. But anyway, I think I’ll leave that for my other Claymore post.
