So, Shigofumi is pretty fucking awesome. The first episode looked pretty bland at first, but then it picked up speed. This show is pretty fucking crazy. And I’m really not sure where it’s trying to go either. But I’m certainly enjoying the ride so far.
Probably the reason I picked the show from the pile of random stuff: chicks with wings. Hell yeah.
Anyway, the first few episodes really caught me completely off guard. I thought we were going to follow that annoying guy, aptly named Shouta, and his struggle to save the poor girl who was basically sexually abused by her father. But they completely threw a wrench in my thought process. What a fucking stunner. I just stared at the screen for a good 30 seconds, wondering if what I saw really happened. I kept thinking, ah, nah, they’ll cheese it and Fumika will bring him back to life or some shit, but thankfully, this isn’t Sunrise! Or at least I don’t think it is. If it is Sunrise, it’s very uncharacteristic of them.
I do hope Chiaki sticks around, she makes things rather interesting. But even without her, the premise of this story is one I’ve never seen before. It’s really rather interesting. Well, I suppose the theme of death really isn’t all that new, but it’s certainly a different way of looking at it. And since they’re obviously not afraid to kill off characters, they’re able to explore a lot of possible scenes and aftermaths of death.
There’s also Fumika’s past, which seems rather strange. It’s not really something we haven’t seen already in the series, but I have to wonder why she killed her father. Or if she even did kill him. If, in fact, she did kill him, then I have to wonder why she went into a coma and is now parading around delivering Shigofumis. If I had to bet, I’d say her father sent her a letter and what he wrote must’ve had a profound effect on her. How she ended up being a Shigofumi deliverer is a bit hard to tell though.
Suffice it to say, I’m really enjoying this show. I was trying to decide what to use to kill time, seeing as I woke up at midnight and had fuck all to do. It was between Kurenai, Myself; Yourself, and Shigofumi. I couldn’t even tell what the fuck was going on in the first five minutes of Kurenai, Myself; Yourself bored me, so I went with Shigofumi and I’m glad I did. Waiting for subs and releases sure does suck sometimes when all you want to know is if a series sucks or not. Now I remember why I prefer marathons. Ah well, back to Shigofumi marathon~
Oh yeah, I do have to take off points for Shigofumi having an OP by ALI PROJECT. As gg put it, in the Geass R2 13 episode: FUCK ALI PROJECT. Thank god for chapters. Skipping OPs is so nice.

Pssst, this show is really, really good. And Shouta wasn’t annoying! Meanie.
Also, Ali Project is fine. This is just (like their CG songs) not their better music. Try the OP of Avenger, or the OP of Rozen Maiden. Those are two perfectly decent songs.

ALI PROJECT SUCKS FUCK YOU
Yeah, this is really quite the mindscrew of a show. If Chaos;Head had been this good all the way through, it would’ve been so much better. And Fumika has one fucked up father.

Shigofumi is actually that good? Wish I had watched it sooner :[ Now I feel my free time isn’t enough for more than 4~5 Anime series…

P.S. Ali Project doesn’t REALLY suck. It sucks to a certain degree but it doesn’t for the rest. I thought their song was really good but I must have mistaken them for another artist group… maybe it was FictionJunction that I liked better.
