Fate/Stay Night

Well, when I watched the first few episodes of Fate/Stay Night, I was pretty much ready to rip Shirou’s head off. He sounded like an even more retardedly idealistic Suzaku. I know I’m comparing them backwards, but this is just the way I ended up watching the two series, so whatever. It didn’t help that Shirou’s VA = Rivalz’s VA. I only figured that out later, but I knew I had heard the voice before somewhere.

Anyway, other than that, Fate/Stay Night was pretty awesome. I’m not sure if I have much to say about it, but I do know Tosaka Rin is definitely my favorite out of everyone. I know I’m supposed to like Saber the best, but Rin is so much more appealing to me. Probably the tsundere that is so prominent in Rin.

I was kinda sad the way they ended it. I guess it was too much to hope that it could be a truly perfectly happy ending. Even though I did like Rin the best, I was kinda hoping that Saber would be able to stick around. But to do that, they would’ve had to really cheese it up at the end, so I’m glad they didn’t go that far. Ah, but speaking of the end, I was really worried when they found Rin all bloody. I was about to fly into a fanboy RAEG if they dared to kill off my beloved Rin.

I was also kinda surprised with the way Archer went out. He barely did anything for most of the anime, then he finally gets to fight freely and he gets defeated in a mere one episode. I mean, I wasn’t expecting him to beat Berserker, especially not after I learned about how Berserker is pretty close to immortal, but still, I would’ve liked to see Archer able to fight a few more battles. It didn’t feel like that one fight was enough time for a guy as kickass as Archer. And after a friend clued me in on Archer’s true identity, I realize how that last statement clashes with my first statement of this post, but oh well. People do change.

So, that’s all for now. The friend I just mentioned pointed me in the direction of a torrent for the Fate/Stay Night VN game, so I’ll probably be spending the next week or so playing it non-stop and ignoring my schoolwork. Probably more to come on that once I’ve played through all the routes. I’m especially looking forward to the Unlimited Blade Works route, for moar Rin obvious reasons.

    I like the loli in FSN. She was cool :P

    And this picture shows how dumb Emiya really is. It’s not real, but that’s probably how he would act anyways :|

    So what’s “VN”?

    VN = Visual Novel. That picture you linked is actually probably from the VN. Or at least, the artwork looks like it, and I’ve heard the third route in the VN is related to Sakura. But yeah, Shirou really is dumb as bricks.

    Surprisingly, even though the loli was pretty cool, she was pretty far down the list on my favorites. I usually tend to like the lolis, but Rin wins by a mile here :3

    Not playing? Too bad. The anime’s inferior in every way, and the only benefit of the anime is that it’s animated and it’s short.

    you got to play the VN! really awesome. And yes that scene is form the VN. Third route is titled Heaven’s Feel, anticipated becoz of Dark Saber and Dark Sakura lol.

    @Aizen
    the dialogue is a joke reference to a doujinshi in which Emiya will say the now so meme-worthy “you lost me”.

    @Choux
    Naturally, if you compare tot he VN, it’s lacking, but for an anime adaptation, it’s not bad.

    No, I am playing the VN. Well, will be. I just wanted to finish up the anime first, because the game is considerably longer and I was already on episode 20 by the time I got the game anyway. :p

    But yeah, it’s not a surprise that the VN is more detailed, there’s so much more content they can cram into it. But I really do miss the animated fights :<

    Don’t worry, the game has animated fight scenes too, but not with animated cutscenes per se.

    They use the animations (clashes and cuts and the likes) combined with character art transitions in a very impressing way.

    Also, you should get the PS2 version (Realta Nua) as well, just for the voices. The voices add a whole lot to the game (this is of course only if you are going for mirror moon’s version, they made the patcher and I am not sure if it works with other groups (are there more translations?) patches, if they exist).

    Yeah, I’ve seen a few of the scenes, they’ve been ok so far, but nothing too intense so far. I guess I’ll have to wait and see the more serious fights.

    Yeah, I’m using mirror moon’s version and the one I downloaded has the voices. As you say, it really does add a lot to it.

    How far are you into the game? The most impressing (and, imo, awesome and cool) stuff is at the end of the Fate route.

    Wait… FFFFFFFFFFF, this reminded me that I still haven’t played though the Unlimited Blade Works and Heavenly Feel routes yet! D:

    Haha, I’ve only just barely started. I’m meeting with Kotomine at the church for the first time.

    I’m looking forward to the other routes the most actually. Mostly because Rin = mai waifu, but also because it’ll be mostly new material.

    Shirou really annoyed me at first, but I guess things worked out in the end. I’m liking him a lot more in the VN though…which reminds me, I should probably get back to playing it >_>

    Haha, I think he’s even more annoying in the VN. I guess it’s just that you can tell how awkward he is about liking pretty much every girl he comes in contact with.

    But it’s so nice to be able to actually kinda control what’s going on, even if it is only a few things here and there. It is kinda fun seeing what happens when I choose stuff that I know has to be wrong based on the way the anime goes. Like choosing not to enter the Holy Grail Wars after visiting the church. That was pretty funny really.
