Two more first episodes down, and these two actually feel like they deserve a post. But I figured I’d save the spamming and combine the two posts together.
Why hello there blonde bishoujo. Another student authority figure voiced by Itou Shizuka? Who woulda thought! Although this time it’s ‘prefect’ or something instead of Student Council (or Congress) President.
Innuendo is so much fun.
Wakamoto Norio is hilarious as the father. Well, he’s hilarious as anything really, but he fits in well with this cast. At first, I felt like his voice didn’t really fit with his character, but I guess I’m getting used to it.
In any case, Tayutama doesn’t really do anything new, but what it does, it does well. It’s silly, but entertaining at the same time. I love the character designs, and the characters themselves have left a good impression on me, so I’ll be following this one for sure. It’s not exactly something that’s going to have me on the edge of my seat and hyped up waiting to see the next episode, but it’s a fun watch, so at the very least I might make a post here and there about it.
That’s what I was wondering!
Ok, Eden of the East was one of the shows I was planning to watch, because everyone seemed so hyped up over it. I mean, when even Hinano has nothing bad to say about an anime, you know there’s gotta be something to it. The first thing that struck me, as an example of doin it rite was actually getting fluent English speakers to do the English lines instead of having horrible Engrish (I’m looking at you, Regios). Actually, that’s a lie. The first thing that I noticed was the awesome opening which actually lived up to all the hype I’ve been hearing. I’d have a hard time disagreeing with whoever it was that said that this OP is the best this season. Anyway, aside from some really weird/stupid stuff, like giving your pants to a random foreigner on the street, the show seems pretty solid. The premise is interesting and the characters aren’t made of fail. I’m still not sold on Morimi, but Akira is pretty good. I was expecting tons of ANGST over OMGMYMEMORIES, but instead, he was a bit more practical and concentrated on what he needed to do to survive and figure out who he was. So, suffice it to say, I’m sold on the premise, but not quite sold on Morimi and the stupidness of some of the random people in the show. We’ll see where it goes from here, but I’m definitely going to keep watching unless the show does something really retarded.

Someone suggested that the pants hand-over was an allusion to the public-toilet hanky-panky indulged in by a particular congressman in real life a few years ago.
As for Morimi, I think her daring is almost appropriate for a girl in her situation: just graduated, on a long overseas trip before starting work, on a side-trip to DC totally alone, not sure where she stands in life, looking for a prince anyway, etc.
Of course, I like Hayami Saori (Morimi’s seiyuu) so much, that I’m probably in this for the long haul even if they do go stupid.

Best. OP. So. Far.
I’m not even exaggerating. I watched everything except Basquash so far (that have been subbed anyways) and this is by far, the most memorable OP. Aside from the outstanding graphics in the OP, I am sold on the song too. I love this OP as much as I love K-ON’s ED. Seriously.
So far, I am enjoying this show. All the WTF moments are all very realistic XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I’m not saying that because I am an American and I have been to DC but really, I am quite impressed with how they handle it. Sure, the handing over the pants thing was a bit too much but overall, good first episode thus far. :)
