Mid-Season ‘Assessment’

I swear I’m not dead… yet. I just haven’t felt that anything I’m watching is really post-worthy. Also, I’m not really watching a whole lot anymore because I’ve lost interest in a lot of it, sadly. At first I really did think this Spring season would be pretty awesome. Unfortunately, the only shows I’m really actually keeping up with are Regios and Eden, and to a lesser degree Sengoku Basara. But anyway, on with the rambling. I hate waking up at like 5 AM and being wide awake /sigh

Yeah, don’t mess with Felli when she’s angry, Heia~

Uwahahaha, Layfon is PISST.

So yeah, Regios is the one show I actually still watch in a timely manner. I feel like a broken record, but I still have no idea why really. The last few episodes have been way out there in left field with them introducing even more weird as hell shit to the already convoluted storyline. I’m really having a hard time seeing how this is supposed to wrap up in 4 episodes. I just hope they don’t try to cram a bunch of bullshit into the last few episodes and then tie it off. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wouldn’t mind a second season of Felli, so please, don’t fuck this one up ZEXCS. Anyway, I thought Felli was out of the running after her not-quite-confession got rejected, but maybe there’s still hope there after all. Still, the “TAICHOUUUUUUUUU” “LAYFONNNNNNNN” exchange at the end of episode 19 makes me doubt that Felli has much of a chance anymore. Yes, apparently, the harem is more interesting to talk about than the story. Well, that and the story is just so fucking bizarre that it’s really hard to get a feel for where the hell it’s going.

Y U DO DIS?! I feel like I’m supposed to hate this chick but fuck… WINGS. BLACK WINGS. Fucking win. Even if it is an illusion or whatever the hell.

So yeah, usually I love anime like this that have crazy conspiracies and tons of mystery that we’re supposed to try to figure out, but for some reason I can’t really get into all the analysis of Eden. One thing I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention is thinking that Akira was behind the missile attacks. Does no one find it at all strange that Akira moved a bunch of people from their homes and then there were very precise missile attacks on locations that… amazingly caused no casualties? I mean, I expected people to be guessing this after the second or third episode or whatever, but I’ve never seen it brought up (granted I’m not exactly looking very hard). I’m not sure what Akira was trying to accomplish by ordering missile attacks on the country, maybe get people to be a bit more paranoid? Anyway, since he uprooted 20k people from their homes, I’d think he’s a prime suspect for the missile attack. I do wonder why Akira hasn’t gone into his own history and looked for what he did before he wiped his memory. Like, surely he’d see what he did, especially if he ordered a missile attack and such. But then, this chick said she wondered where the other 2 billion of his money went, so what, only some transactions show up on history, not all? wtb some consistency~

COCKBLOCKED!

So yeah, I kinda forgot to keep up with Hayate after episode 3. Episode 4 was kinda meh.. I don’t even remember it actually, but then it got a lot better. It’s evil though, I’m really on the fence between Maria and Hinagiku. Both are so awesome it’s hard to choose just one. Seeing Maria in the school uniform was delicious, and then she goes megane mode for even more win. But then Hinagiku gets all flustered when she finds out Hayate isn’t actually dating Ayumu. Gah, why is Hayate’s harem so awesome? D:

YUKIMURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

OYAKATASAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I’m sure everyone keeps hearing it, but I’ll say it again, Sengoku Basara is the shocker this season. It wasn’t even on my radar for things to watch, I think I saw it was a video game adaptation and immediately wrote it off as likely being terrible. Boy am I glad some other people had more faith and convinced me to watch it. It’s everything that makes fightans animu awesome, while also not taking itself too seriously and being able to poke fun at the genre while it gives us awesome fight scenes and tons of hilarity. Epic show.

I approve of MOAR IMOUTO. It also seems we’re getting a twin-tailed girl joining K-On. I haven’t really felt like reading ahead, so it’ll all be new to me from now on.

Sadly, QUALITY has finally clobbered Saki. It was bearable for a while, but in episode 5 it started to get really bad. I’m sure I’ll pick this back up when I feel like I can bear it, but right now, with Regios’s quality going down the tubes as well, I can only really bear to watch one QUALITY show.

Hatsukoi Limited, Tayutama, FMA, and Tears to Tiara were all on my watch list but have been pretty much put on hold until I either get really bored or hear something to bring me back in. I might actually watch Hatsukoi after posting this, as I recall a there was a nice steamy scene or three in the latest episodes. Oh and I think there was an imouto mentioned too, so that might do it as well~

And last but not least, it’d practically be a crime if I didn’t mention Haruhi. However, seeing as I only just finally saw the first season around Christmas of this year, I don’t have near the level of anticipation and excitement that most of the rest of the aniverse has. Since I wasn’t around when Haruhi was being hyped the first time around, I never really got into it. I don’t find any of the characters all that particularly awesome, save for maybe Kyon. He’s pretty funny, but I never really saw the fuss over the girls. Mikuru is just a klutz, I don’t really dig the silent types (Sorry Zyl), and Haruhi is just.. well, Haruhi.

Well, I think that’s it. Time to go afk for another month~

[EDIT:] fuck it, I’ll just make a Hatsukoi Limited post.

Kyon is clearly the most awesome character in the Haruhi universe; no wonder Itsuki isn’t interested in any of the SOS-dan ladies.

    “Mikuru is just a klutz”

You say that like it’s a bad thing…

Sadly, QUALITY has finally clobbered Saki.

How so? The animation has never been exactly high-budget, but the quality certainly has never been distracting, and the character designs are always pretty good, at least as far as I’ve seen.

@Orion: Eh, I’ve never been much for the klutzy characters unless they have something else decent going for them. Mikuru’s sole attraction is that she’s a ditsy klutz. They can be amusing if done properly and not overused, but I rarely like them very much.

Yeah, the animation never has been fantastic but it just seemed downright awful in episode 5. Maybe it was just me being overly picky the day I watched it, I dunno.

@xephfyre: Not yet, but the nosebleeds from Prisma Illya quite nearly killed me.

And Hatsukoi Limited will finish the job~

    Anyways, welcome back :3

No worries – less competition for Yuki! LOL
