Weekly Anime (11/6)

Once again, not really weekly at all.

s0501

Like Ken, I can totally see her doing this too.

s0502

Claymore reference or something else? Either way, Mafuyu has awesome thrown weapon skills, I approve.

s0503

Doesn’t take much to imagine what they’d look like though, based on her summer uniform. There’s not much there to imagine. Not that that’s a bad thing.

s0504

s0505

Poor Ken, first a blindfold that shocks him every time he tries to take it off, then stuffed in a locker and locked in with a bunch of chains. At least he adapts well to his surroundings. If he can’t see what’s going on, he just uses his mind’s eye. If he’s stuffed in a locker, he gets used to moving around like that. Way to go, Ken, you don’t let anything come between you and your harem.

s0506

Awwwwww :3 I’m with Chizuru and Mafuyu, mornings suck.

s0507

And winner of the wearing her hair in the wrong style award goes to Minatsu. I don’t really mind the semi-twin tails, but this look is so much better. Keep it that way, Minatsu. But seriously, shame on Ken for not realizing it’s her. You fail as a harem lead, Ken.

s0508

s0509

And she just keeps getting better at being a loli!

White Album

So, yeah, I’ve been really slacking on White Album. I watched part of the first episode right when it came out, then I found so much other fun stuff to watch that it got put on the back burner. Well, part of the reason really was because when I went to watch the first episode, I realized I didn’t remember ANYTHING from the first half of the series. So I used my own posts as well as Kabitzin’s to help pull me back up to speed (as well as re-watching ep 13). Thank goodness for category archives. Anyway, oh White Album, how I’ve missed you.

wa01

Hell yeah Rina-sama wants to smashT the competition.

wa02

Say wha?

wa03

OH NO YOU DIN’T!

wa04

wa05

wa06

Bitch, please, who do you think Rina-sama is?

wa07

Sorry Yuki, your death certificate is already being written.

wa08

Or else Rina will stomp all over you.

wa09

wa10

Whoops!

wa11

Because he’s an idiot?

wa12

Ahahahahahaha, oh Haruka, you’re killing me. Oh god make it stop.

wa13

Yeah, I’ve been wondering that myself, but with Touya, nothing surprises me anymore. Although I do have to wonder why you’re aiming for an unemployed guy in college who doesn’t even attend classes and is at least 2 or 3 years older, maybe more.

wa14

Amen, pops.

wa15

Hahaha, Yayoi really knows how to tell it like it is.

wa16

That train left the station last season, honey.

wa17

And then lose him all over again too.

wa18

wa19

You know, I might have to take some things back about Touya. Rather than being incredibly stupid and accidentally being unfaithful because he lets himself get caught up in things like a moron, I think he’s actually a brilliant playboy. He inserts himself into different social rings, figures out peoples’ strong and weak points, and then when they’re at their most vulnerable, he shows up pretending to be a shining savior. In this way, he maximizes his chances and minimizes his losses/rejections. I have no doubt now that Touya will reach the high bar set by Makoto, as they are truly birds of a feather.

Bakemonogatari

Yep, I’m jumping on the bandwagon, just in time for the webcast episodes. Bakemonogatari is a pretty fun show, with pretty much every girl throwing Araragi for a different kind of loop. Hitagi just completely shuts him down, out-witting him in pretty much anything. Mayoi can kick his ass, pretty much, or at least break his fingers, even though she’s supposed to be an elementary school girl. Kanbaru just kinda drives him nuts and literally beats him to a pulp pretty much. And Nadeko is just downright adorable :3 Which reminds me, I ought to be listening to her OP (which is amazing btw).

And then there’s Tsubasa, who’s really smart but slightly airheaded. Up until this episode, I have to say none of the characters, save for Nadeko, really had that big of a pull on me. Hitagi is interesting, but I feel like she takes the whole deadpan serious thing a little too far. Which sounds a bit weird coming from me, seeing as I like characters like Yin. I guess it’s how she dominates the dialogue without letting Araragi even step into one of her traps at all. She springs them before he even gets a chance to spring them himself. Anyway, Hitagi’s a good foil to Araragi, but she just didn’t quite do it for me. Mayoi’s arc was pretty interesting, and she was funny with mispronouncing his name, but even the loli factor didn’t get me to declare her a win. Kanbaru is a butch yuri girl, so that was pretty much instant fail as far as I’m concerned. But then finally, we had Nadeko, who is adorable and wanted to call Araragi ‘onii-chan.’ Nadeko is the closest thing that Bakemonogatari had to a win with me. But she didn’t have enough time in the spotlight for me to really get a good read on her. Although she was pretty awesome in episode 11.

bmg1302

Then we got Tsubasa. As you may know from my heaping praise on Nyan Koi, I really like cats. So, it seems obvious that I’d like the cat girl. But, I really don’t usually like Horie Yui’s roles. Maybe it’s just the roles she’s typecast for, but very rarely do I like her characters. Ayu, Hanyuu, Minori, Siesta, and now also Maria. Almost all of those characters I disliked. Ayu is probably the one that got on my nerves the least, but even she got annoying. The only good thing about Ayu was her Uguu~ Anyway, we got a few glimpses of Tsubasa in Hitagi and Mayoi’s arcs, but never enough to give much of a determination about her. It wasn’t until episode 11 that we really got to see what her story was, and even then, it was a flashback to last year (I think?). So, finally, we get to episode 13 and get Tsubasa with her hair down, in pajamas, talking about not understanding simple jokes on a radio show. I personally found it hilarious, because I’m that type of airhead myself. Jokes like that would go over my head most of the time unless they’re explained to me.

bmg1303

So, uncharacteristically, I’m going to be going against my lolicon tendencies and seiyuu tendencies and picking the busty Hanekawa Tsubasa. Unless some very strange things happen in the last two episodes, which should hopefully be devoted to Tsubasa anyway, that’s very unlikely to change. Although, that post of Stripey’s does remind me that we have one more contender for the throne, Shinobu. Truly lolicious in all senses of the word, and seems quite deadpan to boot. We shall see…

Kampfer

k0601

Poor Akane. First thing in the morning and she’s smacked in the face by the childhood friend card.

k0602

Oh, you mean you don’t want to be called MAI HAANI?!

k0603

Shizuku-sama demands the utmost respect from her underlings.

k0604

*evil grin*

k0605

And this is when I realized it was a bad time to take a sip of my soda.

k0606

Yep, you need to get in the mood, right?

k0607

k0608

I’m sure Crusader is disappointed to hear that the Seitokaichou isn’t into yuri :p

k0609

k0610

I guess you’ll just have to teach him, Shizuku.

k0611

Seriously.

k0612

k0613

Yeah, you don’t even want to know how deep this rabbit hole goes, Mikoto.

k0614

So, you want to fight with your childhood friends?

k0615

My goodness she sure is forceful, huh? Laying on the guilt and then using it to force Natsuru to sleep with her. At first I thought Sakura was alright, just a bit headstrong. Now she’s delving into manipulative bitch territory. DO NOT WANT.

So, we did have a bit of story here with Shizuku saying she wants to try something out. I’m guessing she’s trying to see what will happen if none of them actually really fight each other. Since the whole premise of these crazy Kampfers is that they HAVE TO FIGHT EACH OTHER, if she stops the fighting, then what happens? Also, I’m sure she’s trying to gather allies so that if need be, she can attempt to take on these Moderators.

Well, this post ended up being REALLY long, wow. I guess that’s what happens when I watch anime all week and finally go back at the end of the week and post all the screencaps I took while watching. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the way this season is going. Quite a few strong shows that keep me entertained and waiting for more.

  1. Minatsu with her hair down = win. Pres is the funniest and therefor my favorite, however. Sandbox, lol.

Touya bringing the drama = win. I couldn’t remember anything from the first season at the start either, but I just dove right in and found my memory clicking as I went along.

Nadeko OP = win. But I have to go with Senjougahara here. Though with the writing in Bakemonogatari (and thus, each character’s exceptional conversation ability), you really can’t go wrong.

@Michael: Yeah, it sure seems like everyone’s going with Senjougahara, and really I can’t blame them, she’s rather charismatic, but she just didn’t click. Everyone was saying that episode 12 was the best, most moving episode ever and I just didn’t get that feeling from it. Although I think I might be a bit quick on the trigger, as I seem to be forgetting that Bakemonogatari seems to be good at slipping in characters when you least expect it and giving them a really spectacular role at the same time. We’ll see.

I’m still indecisive about Seitokai no Ichizon, I can’t seem to pick a favorite. Each of the girls have their strong points. But I think what really makes the show tick is Ken. Without him, or with a different character (male or female) in his place, it just wouldn’t work. So, honestly, I have to go with the harem lead being the best for creating such awesome chemistry in the Seitokai~

Touya really has taken it to an entirely new level in this season and I find myself surprised, even though I know I shouldn’t be. Being caught red handed with Rina would be the ultimate in betrayal for Yuki, and I can’t wait to see if it happens. Ah, the sound of drama bomb shells crashing in White Album.
