Bishoujo of the Month: November

November 30, 2010

I have to say, it was very tempting to pick Ayatsuji Tsukasa for the November Bishoujo of the Month after only one episode. But I felt it was way too early in her arc to do that. Up until the halfway mark of November, I was really rather undecided though. None of the bishoujos were really stepping up and breaking away from the pack. Going back to Amagami, Rihoko is adorable, but didn’t really strike the right chord with me. It sucks that there wasn’t any closure for her, but that didn’t really seem like a good reason to choose her. There was nothing in what she did that really impressed me. Likewise, no one else was really making any super good impressions on me, so I was a bit worried about who I was going to choose.

But then along came Ferris, finally standing up for Ryner, who wouldn’t even stand up for himself. Perhaps it’s due to everyone in Legend of the Legendary Heroes having a monster obsession, but finally hearing someone say they don’t care who or what Ryner is was music to my ears. It coming from a determined, teary-eyed Ferris made it that much better.

I’ve actually had my eye on Ferris for a while now. She’s an awesome character, almost never serious, but always delivering jokes completely deadpan. She makes such an awesome partner to Ryner’s total messing around and the chemistry between the two is great. It’s a shame there’s not more time spent on just these two because I could watch episode after episode of “The Travels of Ryner and Ferris.” With stuff like Ferris kicking Ryner face first into a table and then telling him that tables aren’t edible no matter how hungry he is, delivered with a completely straight face, I’d never grow tired of it. I also don’t mind when Ferris just waltzes around in her spandex either. Ahem, right, anyway, Ferris is awesome, and while I wouldn’t recommend watching Legend of the Legendary Heroes just for her, she’s a damn good reason to at least give it a shot.
